Karen began her career as a case manager for clients with severe and persistent mental illness.
After earning her master’s degree, she worked as a school-based therapist, a crisis line counselor, and led two suicide-prevention grants for a non-profit mental health agency in Nashville, TN. Upon receiving her school counseling license, she became a high school counselor in the Williamson County School District. With a strong background in counseling and crisis prevention, Karen is committed to fostering student success and well-being through her leadership and expertise in mental health services and response.
Karen’s journey into supporting bereaved families is deeply personal. Her story began with the pregnancy of her rare Mono Mono twins, a condition occurring in only 2% of identical twin pregnancies. At 26 weeks, Karen faced the heartbreaking loss of her daughter, Sophia, while her surviving twin, Daisy, fought for her life in the NICU. During this challenging time, Karen balanced mourning Sophia’s loss, supporting Daisy’s medical battles, and caring for her two sons at home.
Through faith, family, and community support, Karen found strength and resilience. Her experiences have fueled her passion for helping others, making her a compassionate advocate for families dealing with loss.
